What
is The Christian Orthodox Church
The Christian Orthodox Church is self governing Orthodox Church which ministers
to Orthodox Christians in America , Dependencies and those lead to us by the
Holy Spirit.
The Christian
Orthodox Church is a Eucharistic centered, Orthodox Church, centering on the
ministry, passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the indwelling of
the Holy Spirit in our lives. It is a communion of persons gathered for worship
and service within the Christian Apostolic tradition. The Church encourages
liturgies, monastic communities and hermitages which give expression to Christ
in their daily lives.
The Basic Foundations
of the Christian Orthodox Church are scripture, tradition, the definitions of
the seven ecumenical councils, and the teachings of the Church fathers. We hold
to the Apostle's Creed, and Nicene Creeds. Simply put, Orthodoxy has been
teaching creeds, sacraments, and scriptures affirmed by the apostolic Church as
founded by Christ, and established by His apostles and their successors for
centuries..
The Christian
Orthodox Church emphasizes the importance of the life of the Church as a
common ground community that all
may be one in Christ
(John 17), understanding the role of peace, and social justice and mutual
support is of the utmost importance. (Luke 4:18-19) .
At the center of the Church's public worship is the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Christ himself established this greatest of all the Mysteries. It can be said
the fruits of the Holy Eucharist are: forgiveness of sins, cleansing,
Sanctification, justification, unity with God and His Church. In order to have
the benefits of these holy blessings, we partake of it as the Body of Christ at
the Divine Liturgy, which in the Orthodox Church is primarily a community
experience. A person’s spiritual growth is nourished through prayer, word and
Sacraments
The ministries of deacon, and priest are open to qualified men, single or
married. Bishops are unmarried. These three ministries exist for the service of
priestly leadership, sacramental and spiritual worship.
The ministries of deaconess, abbess, are open to qualified women.
Everyone has some place in the Church, for the Church is made up of you, the
Orthodox Christian. Amen
